According to Google Webmaster Tools, there are 256 pages with duplicate title tags and 251 pages with duplicate meta descriptions on my blog.

    Duplicate pages look like this:

    /some-directory/96/
    /some-directory/96/some-url/

Any help how to solve this problem?

    Thanks,
    Alex

What are those pages? Are they actually posts or are they something else?

    What’s your permalink structure?

Normally WP applies a redirect to the shorter URLs so google knows what the real one is, so that’s not an issue for posts and pages.

    They are actual posts.
    Permalink structure is /%post_id%/%postname%/
Google considers them duplicate, that’s how I found these posts in webmaster tools.

Interesting. Google doesn’t usually do that.

Most likely reasons are your theme or a plugin is somehow messing with the normal 301 redirect WP uses.

What WP does is apply a canonical URL to your site, so while you can get to the same page different ways, only the one in your permalinks is ‘real.’
