List Pages In Multi Colums

I’ve searched and searched, installed pluggin after pluggin and tried using code I have found but still I’ve not achieved what I was after, so hopefully someone here can advise…

I have a page, that lists other pages using the following code;
<?php wp_list_pages('child_of=1766&sort_column=post_title&title_li=') ?>

I am wanting to get this in multi-columns (pref 3) and ideally with Alphabet Letter Headers as can be seen here. This page creates columns of categories using the Multi Column Category List plugin by but despite trying 101 different things I can’t get it to work for pages.

Can anyone offer any advice?
