WP upgradation from 2.6 to 2.8 then 2.9

  • Hello Experts,

    Greetings of the Day

    I have to upgrade one WP website that works with WordPress 2.6 version to 2.8 then 2.9

    I did following things :
    1. Backup all Data with database
    2. Deactivate all plugins
    3. Change theme to Default one.

    Up gradation shows success , but when i enable my all plugins and my theme then
    1. Some pages custom code gone and showing another content.
    2. Values of custom variables gone and showing variable name,
    3. Old plugins wants to upgrade, (old one have some custom coding)

    So what is the solution that will work smoothly for our website

  • Why are you upgrading to 2.8 and then to 2.9?

    You can upgrade straight away to the latest 3.3.2

    The database structures of these versions vary and that’s why you might see loss of data.

    The best way to do the upgrade is to test all the custom templates, codes and plugins in a test installation with 3.3.2. Upgrade all of these coding to be compatible with the latest version. Then, you can upgrade your main site.

    Actually one of my client wants up-gradation 2.6 to 2.9 , We can’t skip 2.8 before 2.9 , So that I asked,

    We also suggest for 3.3.2 , with new data structure and new template coding and custom plugin code.
