• I have tried many times tonight to install wordpress.
I have it set up correctly in the config file

    but get this message
“Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL which is required for WordPress.”

I have rebooted the computer which tempted it to work once

then during installation i was told that it was already installed and even after deleting the database and trying again i go the same thing.
after completely removing it from the computer i’m back the to first message
“Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL which is required for WordPress.”

any clues – i guess i’m missing something obvious here but i just can’t spot it …

  • What mySQL version do you have installed? Are you using apache on windows (WAMP, XAMPP) or windows XP’s version of a server?

i’ve completely re-installed apache, php then mysql then phpmyadmin in that order and getting that error message again
    the missing the mysql one

I am using wordpress with xampp and it works like a charm. https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/xampp/ might be useful.

Could it be the mySQL version? Try using a $.X version of MySQL….
I’ve installed WP many times locally w/o ay issues, but it has only ever been with a mySQL 4.X and PHP 4.X versions….

Yes, try with xampp. My current xampp install has MySQL 4.1.12 and php 4.something and is working perfectly. My online servers are running MySQL 5.02 and work fine as well, but I haven’t upgraded to try this on my local server yet….
