• I’m using Village theme by Themeforest in my WordPress installation. I’ve been told that to edit image title tags for SEO I need to enter code into gallery_template.php file. As I have no knowledge how to do this, can someone suggest a plugin that can work with Village, or perhaps suggest how code should be entered!

My understanding is that code should go in this location: <div class=”gallery_item_info”><?php echo $gallery_item_title; ?></div>

  • It might be best if you went to the theme forest support. The author of the theme would most likely be the best person to help.

I also wouldn’t worry to much about image title tags for SEO.. Google doesn’t rank those as high as your actual content.

Christine- thanks for your reply. Themeforest have very limited support. A question of this sort is treated as a ‘development’ issue- therefore out of their range!

My new site https://www.kevinhawkinsphotography.com is a photo gallery with limited text content. I’d like to have more flexibility with alt and title tags as the Village theme overrides many useful wordpress SEO related plugin functions.
I’m hoping that by editing image tags directly I’ll be able to tidy up visible titles in Village and add detailed searchable text for every image!

We do not support commercial themes as you paid for support when you bought the theme. It is not our place to keep theme vendors in business or deprive them of any income that they may derive from support services.

Esmi- thanks for your reply. I know very little about coding, but thought there might be a very simple image tag code hack that might apply across most themes.
Apart from that, I’d be happy to use a WordPress plugins that might help to simplify the process?

Every theme is different. As a result, there’s no plugin – or generic code hack – for this kind of customisation.
