/localhost redirect?

  • I am desperate for someone to help me at this point!

    My website is https://www.nailsadored.com

    I spoke to my host’s tech support 21 times (literally) yesterday, to basically be told over and over that they “don’t see anything wrong.” Yet I have had it reported to me by over 20 people at this point that it doesn’t load. You get “Page not found” or “The page isn’t redirecting properly
    Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
    cookies.” It’s been checked on Firefox, IE, Safari, and Chrome.
    The URL redirects to “https://www.nailsadored.com/localhost”

    It works for some people, and not for others. I have had everyone clear their cache and refresh and no change, they still get the issue.

    What I’ve done so far: Yesterday tech support and I– checked the MyPHP area and made sure siteurl and home were correct. Checked that the URL in wordpress was correct. I installed a redirect plugin. We edited the .htaccess to remove a “redirect to https://www.nailsadored.com/localhost” (which we thought for sure would fix it!)
    After all THAT didn’t work, I installed WordPress completely and reinstalled it. Rebuilt the blog, thought it was working and then it was reported to me AGAIN that it doesn’t work. I uninstalled it again (this time without the intention of reinstalling), and finally gave it to try one more time.

    This time I was POSITIVE it was working! I cleared my cache, refreshed the page and everything was perfect! Worked on IE and FF. A friend a few states away tried it and it works for her too! BUT, now i’ve got 3 other people telling me it’s not working. I happened to click a link on my FB that went to a specific post on my blog, and *I* got the redirect error too!

    I am in no way a “computer person” – I am struggling terribly with this and am just about to delete my entire blog at this point. ??

    If you know what’s going on, PLEASE help me!

  • Check your .htaccess and wp.config.php file.
    If this does not help, replace urls in the database eg. using this script

    Thank you for the quick reply, but I have to be honest and say I have no idea what you mean for me to do.

    What am I checking the .htaccess and wp.config.php for? I don’t know what they’re supposed to look like…

    I also don’t know what you mean to replace urls in the database

    Like I said- this is definitely not my thing, I’m only trying to fix it myself because my webhost isn’thelping

    Of course, you should check the urls … maybe you have somewhere https://www.nailsadored.com/localhost in your config file.
    .htaccess check for any redirect rule contains word localhost

    If these files do not contain anything with the word localhost …then you should replace urls directly in the database.
    You must change the https://www.nailsadored.com/localhost to https://www.nailsadored.com eg. via this script

    Thanks so much for your reply! I figured out what a standard WordPress .htaccess file looks like and made mine match and now it all works! ??
