Nicename to Nickname

Hi,
I need to know how to change the URL for my authors. They want to user their nicknames, and in the author link its their nicename.
from:
https://mhq.mysite.de/author/peter-criss/to:
https://mhq.mysite.de/author/crissi/I love to have a plugin filter or action to do so.
Any help?
