Can a subdomain install point to other subdomains of root folder?
-
I’ve been researching/googling all afternoon without much luck. I’m afraid I am missing a key search term.
I have a multisite install of WordPress on a subdomain.
Wordpress installed on –> https://www.domainname.com/laboratory
Subsite1 –> https://www.domainname.com/laboratory/site1
Subsite1 –> https://www.domainname.com/laboratory/site2
It is working fine.
What my employer wants is to map some domain names to the folders on the subdomain.
https://www.newdomain1.com –> https://www.domainname.com/laboratory/site1
https://www.newdomain2.com –> https://www.domainname.com/laboratory/site2From what I understand it isn’t possible to map to a folder in a subdomain. (I have wordpress-mu-domain-mapping installed it says to move my install to the root directory.)
I cannot (right now) move the site to the root folder.
Is it possible to keep WordPress installed on the subdomain and point the multisite to subdomains in the root folder?
Or is there another way to do this without three different installs of wordpress?
