• I’d like to add an inline title tag to the hyperlink to a post that shows up in “Recent Comments” sidebar widgets. I cannot find which file to edit though.

    It’s in wp-includes/default-widgets.php. Around line 657.
    You really should copy/create you own widget, then swap yours into you blog, otherwise your little hack could disappear during an update.

    Understandable. I only have 2 or 3 hacks like this that I use semi-regularly. I usually just keep a log file of what to review, if the site uses the hack, before/after running any updates.
