[Plugin: Custom Field List Widget] Limit the list

It would be possible but it looks like I will not find the time to implement new features until June 2012.

May I ask why you want limit the amount of list items?

Thanks for your quick answer.
It’s OK to wait to June for the update.

We use it for a danish site about wine, where we rank wines with point. The point is saved in a custom field.

And we use your plugin to make the sorted list of our best wine reviews.
But would like only to show the first 10 on our frontpage, because we have over 100 review and more comes every week.

Some other suggestions could be adding a date filter, so it only takes post between to days.

And the possibiliy to insert a list in a post or page with a shortcode.

Sounds really good.
Would hope that you will add the limit feature first.

Just thought of another feature:
The posibility to translate text output on the page. e.g. the navigation text, som local the admin could translate text to local language.

Hi Brian,

the plugin is ready for translation and gets delivered with e.g. German language files). It includes also Danish language files which should contain the translated phrases for the frontend part of the plugin. These language files are maybe a little bit old and maybe not complete. I have to admit that I have only uploaded them to the repository (because I don’t speak Danish). But maybe you would update those file(s):
customfieldlist-dk_DK.mo
customfieldlist-dk_DK.po.
There are multiple program you may use to edit the files. I personally prefer poEdit. Open the .po file with this program and it will show you a list of the original English phrases and right beside it a further column where you can add or alter the Danish phrases (see https://www.poedit.net/screenshots.php).
Editing those files is really not difficult with this program.

If you do that then it would be great if would send me the updated language files so that I can put them into the next plugin upgrade.

Actually, I have a similar need but have never asked for the featured. Instead I deactivated the plugin because my list became way too long. If the limit feature will be implemented I will definitely use the plugin again.

Looking forward to see if the feature will be implemented.

@kim: I’m going to implement this. Brians example showed me the relevance and I have also not thought about lists which can become to long. I will do this in June.
