Adding a new post to my homepage

I would like to have my homepage set as my front page display,but can I just keep adding to that same page for a new posts.How will they be seperated?Not sure what Im doing Im new to this.I will have a homepage,about page,blog,and some other ones.My categories will be on the sidebar.
