• I am new to WP and I am wondering if there is a way to undo changes to WordPress done via the accompanying PHP, JS, CSS files etc . I know you can undo changes directly within the Dashboard but I am trying to go beyond that. My PHP, JS knowledge etc is very limited at this time but at least I can make changes to the style.css file using Dreamweaver. Only problem now is that I have to save in order to see the changes and I get stuck if it doesn’t work. Just wondering if there is a quick undo button somewhere that can be used once WP is transferred into another environment.

    Thanks in advance

when you are using Dreamweaver, you can link directly per ftp to the theme’s folder; and use the ‘put’ button to send the edited files to your server.

if your site shows an error, undo the changes in Dreamweaver and send the ‘un-edited’ file to the server; then reload the web page in your browser.

I use Dreamweaver as the editor for my WordPress templates in the exact same way – make changes in files of the local (on my computer) copy of the theme, save (i.e. upload to the theme folder), test, undo, edit more, save, test again, …

this works as long as you don’t close Dreamweaver, ie.e as long as the ‘undo’ button in Dreamweaver will work.

apart from that, you need to work with backup files.

Thanks, will keep your suggestions in mind, especially making backup files. I am currently not uploading to a site, just locally, playing around for a better grasp. It’s the PHP side that is daunting.
