• My wife and I design websites together. If I install a site through WP (godaddy) on my computer and we need to also work on the same website. Does she need to download WP for that specific site? If she is working on the same site, will all the files/folders be the same so we don’t have to worry and it can go live and ready for uploads(changes) later?

  • If you install WordPress onto your hosting account (godaddy) then it is being hosted at godaddy and not locally on your computer.

You can then access your files however you want, via ftp, sftp, ssh, or the built in theme editor etc.

You would only download WordPress to individual computers if you were working locally and not remotely.

Thank you very much. Im sorry to be a little behind the curve here- So will she have to actually do anything to have these folders actually on her computer?. Or will she have to transfer or anything? Thanks in advance for your patience-We have been using other software and just now starting to build wordpress sites. ST

nothing needs to be downloaded to a computer, everything is on the host

You would only download a file if you wanted to work on it…but being on godaddy, they have a file editor built in, you wouldn’t even need to DL a file if you were comfortable editing on a live site

–I’m not 100% sure I’m understanding what you are asking, if I’m off base, my apologies

You guys (gals) have been very helpful-It seems like bottom line is I don’t need to worry at all about her having the same capabilities and files as me with a theme-especially as they are hosted by GoDaddy and not locally. Thank you very much for your help. Cheers! ST
