Media Library Image Upload Not Working

  • I have a problem uploading new images to the Media Library, it is also not working via the Upload/Insert option on the pages and/or posts.

    I have tried the drag and drop option, the choose file option and the browser upload option, all of these get to 30% on the progress bar and then hangs.

    I did manage one upload yesterday and first thing today but thereafter it does not work.

    I have the Smush-it plugin which I’ve deactivated to test if this was the problem – no difference. The server on my host is fine.

    The problem seems to have occurred after upgrade to WP 3.3.2

    Can anyone confirm if they are having the same problem? or Suggested a fix?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Thanks for your reply and suggestions – I’ve now tried all of the above and reverted back to WP 3.3.1.
    When I switched the theme to Twenty Eleven I was able to upload an image to the draft page I’m working on but when I tried to upload a second, it again got to 30% upload on the progress bar and hung.
    This is the same behaviour as before!?*!

    I have refreshed the plugins folder and uploaded fresh instances of the wp-amin and wp-includes folders but no joy…

    I’m scratching my head over this but merely getting splinters!!

    Please re-read my suggestions above. This is all part if the basic troubleshooting process.

    And I still have the problem of the image upload hanging.

    Just to be clearer on my message posted earlier

    Deactivate all plugins – tested it – no joy
    Refreshed the plugins folder via Phpmyadmin – tested an upload – no joy
    Re uploaded a fresh wp-admin and wp-includes folder – tested an upload – no joy
    Switched themes to twenty eleven – tested an upload – JOY! – but a second attempt did not work.

    I seem to have a sporadic problem as I was able to do the same yesterday where I managed to upload one image and all subsequent attempts failed.

    BTW I am using Weaver II Pro Theme

    Right – that’s not an unedited version of Twenty Eleven. Re-upload a fresh copy of Twenty Eleven using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    I’m sorry but I’m still seeing a lightly customised version of Twenty Eleven. The point of this exercise to to try and remove all of the unknown variables to see if we can locate the source of your link problem. And even a lightly customised version of Twenty Eleven means “unknowns”.

    is it because I have set a static home page?

    The Post title links are using a different color to the default 2011 theme.
