• When I load files through Filezilla to my main domain and then check to make sure URL is working I get ‘nothing found for….’. When I load to my add on domains there is no problem. I did notice that if I remove the public_html from the URL, I can then view it on the web. My webhost provider said that WP is probably misdirecting the files…please HELP!!!!

When I load files through Filezilla to my main domain

    What … files?

And what are you doing with ‘public_html’ in your URL anyway? your URL should be https://example.com/

They are .html files. I was told by the support people from my webhost provider that’s where I’m supposed to load any files for my main domain.

Like my squeeze page, or delivery page. I can only see them if I type them in as https://example.com/squeeze. But that is not the correct path to them according to Filezilla.

… Your host is an idiot. Or they’re attempting to ‘dumb it down’ to the point of uselessness. I’m sorry about that.

WordPress doesn’t have .html files. Download a copy of WP, extract the zip, copy those files into your /public_html/ folder.

Your URL will be https://youdomain.com/ (not https://yourdomain.com/public_html)

    Go from there ??

Thanks for your help. It didn’t work though, I don’t know what’s up?

At this point, we’d need to know your domains, and a better explanation of what ‘doesn’t work’ means.

Are you able to upload ANYTHING to your site? Like can you put a file called test.txt up there and see it at domain.com/test.txt?

if NOT, go back to your host and get them to help you upload ANY content to your site. Gotta walk before you can run and, frankly, Multisite is possibly something you don’t want to mess with. Yet. You need to master WordPress first, and for that, you need to understand how to upload files. This is basic webmastering stuff, you need to know.

I understand the walk before running thing, trust me. I’ve tried to work with the MAIN domain for a couple of weeks before I did an add-on domain. The main domain has Genesis on it, and I can’t even get that to deactivate. I activated my SocrtaesTheme, and the Genesis still didn’t deactivate. I don’t know if Genesis is blocking any file changes or what, don’t even know if that’s possible. I can edit content through the admin, but that’s it.

Okay… Now you’re really muddying the waters.

First you imply you don’t have WordPress installed at ALL on your main domain, now you say you have Genesis (which is a theme)…

Are you even running Multisite at this point, or multiple, separate, installs?
