[Plugin: WP jQuery Lightbox] Mobile Version is Miniscule

With a little bit of investigation, it appears to be the viewport meta tag in my header.php which is causing the lightbox window to appear so small. My viewport is as follows:

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, height=1150px"/>

I’ve checked and the height attribute has no effect on the lightbox. It appears to be the width attribute which is causing the lightbox to load so small. Does anyone have any experience with this?

And, after checking out the demo you posted in the plugin details, that doesn’t work either. Is there a way to get the mobile functionality that you alluded to in the description of the plugin to work that I’m not understanding?

There are no secret knobs or buttons. I assume you’ve tried the admin interface and configured the thing properly?

Short of sending me an iphone you’ll just have to report back with your experiments and see if you can narrow the issue down for me.

I have used the admin interface and have it configured properly as far as I can tell. I’ll keep plugging away at it, but I will say that if you’re going to claim mobile compatibility, which is not something that many lightbox plugins claim, you should be sure you can test it on various mobile devices so that you can test your software so that you can make that claim. If all you have is an android device, then only claim android compatibility.

Could you please also let me know how many and what type of devices I need to buy, what browsers I should install on them and the amount of quality assurance I have to perform before releasing my code for free to you? It would be lovely if you could also provide a QA target spec so I know what features are essential to the experiences being claimed in the plugin description.

No offence, but that’s now how free software works. Just to put this into perspective; in 160 000 downloads you’re the first one reporting an issue with idevice. If I claimed android compatibility, you think I’d get any report for idevices?

If you want to be helpful, please perform tests with a variety of browser on whatever hardware you have available, and report back with your results.

Hello, I’m using NextGen Gallery with this plugin. I’m testing on my Galaxy SII and I notice that there is extra padding on the right side. It appears that the ‘close’ button is too large so it pushes the right too far. I was wondering if there was a way to fix this perhaps scale the close button smaller? Or a way just to disable on mobile devices completely? So far it works on the android but I haven’t tested it on other devices yet ie (iPhone, iPad, Galaxy Tab, etc). However, that said. This is a great alternative to the other lightbox plugins out there because it auto resizes. Great job so far. Thanks for releasing this to the community!

Have you tried changing the “minimum margin” setting and see if that makes any difference? (specifically to even out padding left / right).

You can also try removing / changing the close.gif in the plugin directory, to see if it’s the actual image causing problems.

I also see a too-small lightbox on your motion-capture demo page, using an Android 2.2 phone, not the latest anything but it’s all I have. Is there some minimum level of software or browser needed to get the images maximized in landscape orientation?

Sorry about that. It shouldn’t require any fancy newfangled software, no. It’s all fairly basic javascript, css and some html markup, and it really should work. But I can only test on what I have access to.

Have you tried on some alternative browsers? Chrome (if it runs on 2.2?), Opera, Dolphin etc. Any differences?

I finally got around to downloading a different browser (Maxthon) to my old Android phone. The plugin seems to work as advertised with this browser. thanks
