• I have WP on 4 of my blogs. Two are installs in the past few days. On one, edit.insert link works fine.

ON the other, the Edit/Insert Link to Post is not working.

I highlight the text, click the link icon, and the box pops up.

But there is no https:// highlighted in the edit box like there is on the other three installations. I then post the link in to the box, check the box that says open Link in New Tab, clcik the Add Link button, and then one of two things happens.

    1. A windows popup box appears that says This page is asking you you to confirm that you want to leave…. I click the leave page link. Then click the Add Link button again, and I’m taken to a blank Add New Post page.

    OR

    2. The windows popup doesn’t appear, and I’m taken to the All Posts page.

The link does not, obviously show up in my post.

I’ve double checked the upload of WP to my server to make sure all the files uploaded. I don’t see anything missing.

So what’s up with this? The other upload of WP to the same server for a different blog works just fine. It doesn’;t matter what theme I’m running (I’m guessing that that shouldn’t matter)

Thank you in advance for any help in this matter.

  • For your problem, have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). Don’t forget the ones in mu-plugins folder if you have one. If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

I have no plugins active at the moment. The only plugins that show are Akismet and Hello Dolly, and I’ve not activated them as yet.

And I had already switched to the Twenty Eleven Theme.

Delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders. Download a fresh copy of wp. Extract those folders and upload them to the server. DO NOT mess with the wp-config.php file or the wp-contents folder.

I just deleted, extracted and re-uploaded the wp-admin and the wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WP.

I’m still having the same issues with the Link Edit and the Media Uploader.

Are you logging into these wp installs with the same computer on the same network?

Yes. Same computer. Same network. Same host server ((I Have a VPS on InMotion Hosting)). All the other ones work fine.

    Very frustrating and bewildering.
