• Hi, I am using the TwentyTen theme and want to display an RSS icon in my sidebar widget.

I have only just started learning about RSS feeds and what they do so I hope I have got the right idea.

My target audience are the over 50s who may not be Internet savvy and I want to make it simple to get updates from me so I want to put a short explanation about RSS feeds and why it would be good to click on the icon.

Can anyone tell me how to do this and how I get my RSS feed please. I am using custom permalinks so I thought my rss feed would be https://exercisesforosteoarthritis.com/feed/ but that brigs up the html of my site.

    Sorry to be so ignorant!

    Thanks. Sophie

    Hi Esmi,

Thanks for the reply. I’m sorry I am being thick. What should I put in the text widget? I don’t write code and how do I get the little orange icon I want?

    Sophie

    Something like:
    <a href="https://exercisesforosteoarthritis.com/feed/"><img src="image_url_goes_here" width="xx" height="yy" alt="RSS" /></a>

in the widget’s content area should work. There are literally thousands of free RSS icons out there. Just use Google to locate some of the collections and upload the image you want to your Media Library. Once the image is in the Library, select it (as if to edit it) and scroll to the bottom of the image’s edit page. It’s url will be displayed near the bottom./ Copy that url carefully and paste it where I’ve put image_url_goes_here.
