How is Artiss YouTube Embed different from Jetpack?

The plugin offers a large number of improvements over the basic embedding that Jetpack provides. For a start you have a lot more control over the output – Jetpack has limited options, whereas this provides all of the options available via the YouTube Player API.

These options are also set in an admin screen which means they become a default for every video you then embed. You can specify individual options on each embed, if you wish, to override any of these defaults.

You can set up multiple defaults and even create your own playlists via my plugin.

Converting over shouldn’t be an issue, as my plugin provides compatibility so no changes are required (other than maybe switching on an option in my plugin’s admin screen).

You can have both active but you’ll need to use the alternative shortcode with my plugin.

Alternatively, just disable the shortcodes part of Jetpack and they’ll both live in harmony!

the plugin is installed and I have modified the options and the profile, but nothing has changed on the way the youtube player shows on my blog.

I have activated the plugin and I have added the url to a youtube video on one of my posts. But, nothing has changed.

Do I have to use a certain shortcode or can I just paste the youtube URL?

Don’t take this the wrong way, but have you tried reading the instructions? I’ve gone into some detail on the various ways to embed a video with my plugin.

You can use a shortcode, yes, but you can also just use the URL. To use the latter, though, you need to switch on an option in the admin screens (again, see the instructions on where this is located).

BTW, you mentioned in your first post that you rely on Jetpack to convert YouTube URLs to videos. This isn’t the case – Jetpack adds a YouTube shortcode but the conversion of URLs is built into WordPress itself.
