  • I think what you are saying is that it doesn’t show up in your media library after uploading with ftp, is that correct? That’s because when you upload by ftp, nothing is actually added to the database. Take a look at this plugin and see if it seems like something that might help with your situation. Add From Server

    ClaytonJames,

thanx for the response. plugin looks promising. i will try it out. when you said ftp upload doesn’t add anything to database, are you saying it will not add anything? or item will not stay in wp folder? or? i’m curious why ’cause i’m not a techie.

If you upload using ftp, wherever you put the files, that’s where they are going to stay. When you upload using the wordpress media uploader, it adds the files to your media library (and database) so they can be browsed using the library. If you upload by ftp, that doesn’t happen. The files are there, but the media library won’t be aware of them. You either have to link to them directly or import them into your library. That plugin helps you import items that you have uploaded manually by ftp into your media library, so that your library is aware of them, and will show you the files just like you would see if you had uploaded them using the wordpress uploader.
