Error: please type a comment.

  • I know this question has been asked many times, but I can’t find a straight answer. I’m using v1.3 and the comments were working earlier (I just installed it today) and then suddenly they stopped. I don’t think I did anything to the comments, except play around with the templates (I was very careful and tested the commenting continuously).

    basically when someone types in a comment and clicks submit, they get: Error: please type a comment. I am not running wordpress on my own computer, I have hosting through hostndezign.com. I have used wordpress before and had no such errors. please help, someone =)

    my site, by the way, is https://strawberry-pie.com/strawberry/ I’m running wordpress through an iframe, but that shouldn’t be the problem, since I can’t get it to work from the original page either (https://strawberry-pie.com/wp/). also I was wrong about my version, I’m actually using 1.5.2. please help someone, I am at a loss as of what to do!

    First of all, there is no WordPress v1.3. It went from WordPress 1.2 to 1.5 and then there are newer versions from there. For the newest version, click DOWNLOAD at the top of the screen.

    The answer to your question is “I played around with the templates”.

    More complicated is the fact that you are running WordPress in an iframe – a very bad choice. Because there is something major wrong, which could be the iframe issue, I can’t validate the code at all, so I’m not clear what is happening.

    I recommend that you find a backup copy or the original theme you used before with your original comments.php and replace it, or do careful side by side comparisons.

    And consider, seriously, changing your design to get it out of the iframe. It takes longer to load and isn’t search engine friendly at all. And it borks in some browsers.

    I didn’t any change on my template… ??
