Timeline template

Hi

I’m pretty new to WordPress and I’m trying to assess whether it’s going to be suitable for my needs.

I’m going to be using WordPress to manage the content for a small charity. The site is going to consist of pages only and for the most part these will be the same in design and layout. One exception is the time line page, here I want to display a date, image and description for each year in the time line. What I want to know is how could I best make this page editable through WordPress? I want the site editors to be able to add new items to the timeline but they wont be able to write the HTML, I want to present them with a form. Is it possible to create hidden posts which contain all of the above data and then search and iterate through those posts to display the timeline?

Sorry if I’m clearly not getting WordPress, but like I said, I’m pretty new to the platform.
