• When I try to add a new page in WordPress it is not displaying on my website. When I preview it I can see it on my website but then I click on the menu bar heading and it disappears. I save it under one of the parent menu bar headings and put it in the right order but it still won’t display a new page in my drop down menu on my website. Can anyone give me any ideas of what I should do? I have been able to add new pages before with no problems. I recently updated to version 3.3.1 and thought it may rectify the problem but it hasn’t. I have been in the Appearance, Menu-bar and made sure the Menu bar is a type Page Tree so I can have a drop down menu in my website. The Menu-bar is version 4.2.

  • It sounds like your theme has some kind of custom menu system that’s more advanced than the standard, either that or it’s a plugin.
    So you’ll want to include some info about what’s under your hood, generally the more info, the more likely people will know what you are refering to.

    My current theme is Vista-Like 1.0.2 by Nicki Faulk and there is a new 1.1 version available but I haven’t downloaded it yet as I wasn’t sure if I would lose all my details from my website. Would I need to do a back up of WordPress first before I update my theme?

    Have you tried
    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Updating a theme should not cause you to loose anything.

    I’m not familiar with the “menu bar version 4.10”, have you tried using the default wp custom menu?

    You’ll need to update all plugins and your theme in order to proceed with any meaningful troublshooting.. You have to rule out incompatability.

    Even when everthing is up to date there are bugs that can occur, you’ll need to do as kmessinger suggests, that’s standard troubleshooting proceedure.
