Links don't appear, Sidebars don't appear

We are using WordPress for our wedding invitations, and trying to link to things like our wedding band, the hotels in town etc. in the side bar.
I have activated the Link widget for blogroll, established link categories, and written the title, description, etc. for the link, but they don’t appear on our website whatsoever. I have been working on this for an hour and reading through the documentation and the forums to no avail. Please help.
