Maintain video aspect ratio

  • When I view my blog on an iPod, I see that the aspect ratio of a Youtube video I embedded is not maintained (video looks fine on my MacBook). Instead, when scaling the video to fit an iPod screen, WP does … how to describe this? Imagine holding a piece of paper in landscape orientation, and rather than scaling it down and keeping it in landscape mode to fit the width of an iPod screen, it scales down, but the final mode is more like a portrait.

    I searched for maintain video aspect ratio for iPhone on the forums and didn’t find an answer. Playing with media settings in WP didn’t seem to resolve this problem.

    Is this a bug? Is there a plugin for this? Or what lines of code do I need to change and how?

    I should add. On my iPod, video aspect ratio looks fine if I look at it when I hold the iPod in landscape mode. Seems to be a problem for iPods held in portrait mode. Images scale appropriately.
