local install

    Hello!

    I am trying to install WP on my local PC. Got the WAMP server ready to use as I have got Joomla also running. I will now be downloading WP and have to install it somewhere.

    The confusion now is that different sources on the Internet say different folders to save WP and do the installation. My question is: How do I know which folder is the correct one so that the installation does not get messed up and will be working correct with my server.

    Please help I am nearly there.

    You can install WordPress into any folder that you want.

    do I need to cross reference anything with WAMP. I just created databases.

    Nope. Just run the install & enter the usual database details when required.

    I am trying to isntall it and get the following error message

    The requested URL /wordpress/wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server.

    Is the wordpress folder within your web document folder?

    this is how it looks like

    C:\wamp\www

    C:\wamp\www\website

    then I have a lot of files in the website folder and a the following three folders

    wp-admin
    wp-content
    wp-includes

    I am going crazy

    When you try to navigate to WordPress or Joomla?

    everything goes well untill I am doing this

    Now browse to https://localhost/website and follow the prompts to set up WordPress

    Also when I go https://localhost/ via WAMP and click on “website” under “my projects” I get an error message.
    HTTP 500 – Internal server error

    Try using https://localhost/website/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php

    Is working now.

    what I did was created a folder called “wordpress” so that your url would work.

    Can you navigate to Joomla? If so, what urls do you use? And where is Joomla installed in your web root?
