• I currently have a live wordpress site at https://www.rosiesyarncellar.com, hosted by dreamhost. I have created a new site currently at test.rosiesyarncellar.com. I am ready to take down the current rosiesyarncellar.com and replace it with the test version. (I will take the test out of the domain so it will just replace the existing site). I did a search and replace to replace test.rosiesyarncellar.com with rosiesyarncellar.com. But now I am lost. I changed the name of the current sites er at the server to rosiesyarncellar.com.retired and changed the name of test.rosiesyarncellar.com to rosiesyarncellar.com and the site switched but it was all broken.

How do I go about replacing the old with the new?
    Sorry for the novice question.
    Thanks!

  • Hi rosiesyarncellar! It sounds like you’re on the right track, but I’m a little confused on how exactly you were planning to do the site transfer. The easiest thing may just be to move the test. WordPress files to the current folder for rosiesyarncellar.com.

I’m not sure if you have yet, but I would suggest taking a look at this page:
    Moving WordPress Within Your Site

Let us know if this helps or not.

I have a similiar situation. I created a website for a client on a sub-domain on my website and am looking to transfer what I built to their domain. I uploaded all of the content to their FTP, but how do I switch out the old site for the new one?

Here is what I built: bbk.phoenixblue.com

And I need it to go here: bleedbluekentucky.com

    Thanks!

@jdduran30: Yours is not the same issue. Please post your own topic.

Well I’m not exactly sure how to do that cuz I don’t see any link that says “create a new topic” anywhere? I’m thoroughly confused..??

    Thanks for the help!
