Need to find link to make new blog post

    Greetings,
    I was able to install WordPress in my host and was able to make my first blog post. However, after this first blog post, when I login, it led me to the index.html file of my file manager. I made a change in the PHP file (I forgot already which one) to redirect it to index.php. Now when I login, it directs me to the index.php file. My first post is in there and so is my blog title and description. But from that page, I could not find a link to make a second blog post. What must I do?

  • First, don’t mess with things. ??

    If you are using WordPress as your site’s blog, then you should not even have an index.html file. It is now replaced by the index.php. You have two of them. One is in the root directory of your WordPress installation. If you have made a change in that file REPLACE IT with the original immediately. The only one you should mess with, if you mess with it at all, is the index.php located in your Theme folder under /wp-content/themes/yourtheme.

    Second, if your Theme is working right and has the feature, there may be a link in the sidebar under meta which will say Site Admin or Admin or Login. That link will take you to your administration panel’s login screen.

    If you have set up the options to show only one post on the front page, then all the others will be viewable and accessible through your archives or categories links. This is set up under Options > Reading.

    I just deleted the index.html file. Thanks.
    I did mess up with one file wherein I placed a “index.php” to prevent it from going to “index.html” upon login. I just forgot how I did this.
    Now when I login at /wp-login.php,
    I get directed to this page:
    https://blog.gospel-and-culture.net/index.php/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fwp-admin%2F
    This seems to be the effect of my messing up a file and placing an “index.php” in that file. So, the page directs me with a https://……./index.php/wp-login.php…..
    Is there a way for me to remember in what file I placed the “index.php”?

    No need for that – just follow the instructions for login given in the other thread. (And if you don’t know what did you modify, upload a set of new, unmodified files to your server)

    thank you very much.
    It’s okay now.
    I found a way to make it work.
    my host told me to empty my database tables.
    and so I did.
    I was able to get a username and a new password
    to login. I login-ed and everything works now.
    Since I also downloaded a theme, it got automatically
    activated. Things are even better. thank you
    very much the services and more to everybody’s
    patience with this case.
