• Hello – I am receiving the same error – Error establishing a database connection – my blog is:

    https://gulfscapes.com/2011-Mardi-Gras-Gulf-Coast/

I’ve gone through 8 hours of reading threads about correcting a partial upgrade, manually installing a blog, checking wp-config.php, learned how to deactivate plugins when I can’t log in … I’ve tried everything I can find.

I deactivated the theme manually as well – at least my page is up but if you click on anything it says – Error establishing a database connection

    I can’t get to login.

I am using yahoo hosting …

  • Something is wrong with your wp-config.php file. Password and user is what you sign into your hosted account not wordpress – a place to check. Compare against the wp-sample-file right down to the spaces.

It’s very strange that your site shows up even thought there’s no connection to the db. I would contact yahoo and see if they can help. Normally when there’s no connection to the db, there’s no site either.

Since the first page comes up I think that is connecting ok.

    Have you tried
    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    [edit] Lots of errors https://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3a%2f%2fgulfscapes.com%2f2011-Mardi-Gras-Gulf-Coast%2f

Did contact my host site, they said it looked like i had a partial upload … can’t believe all the errors …

I did try using the Twenty Ten …. still couldn’t get into the site … can’t get to the login page …

I did deactivate all the plugins, but didn’t reactivate one by one … the whole site vanished when I deactivated the plugins … how do you do that through your folders, just rename each one as you go through?
