• Hello everyone, I hope I am writing into the correct forum topic. I have WordPress Multi user. In our school, to have e-postfolio system, we search some solutions. One of the alternative solution can be WMPU. But we have over 2000 students. I don’t have any idea about how many blog can we have when we install WMPU. Is there any limit about this? Also if you know about e-portfolio, do you think that WMPU is a good solution for it?
    thanks in advance,

Alas I dont know what you mean by e-portfolio.

    Can you explain?

E portfolio is a type of learning record to see the students achievement during his/her learnin life. They put their assignments, projects, and also some personal information such as interest, visited countries, languages.. and so on. When a student graduated from a school, he can use it in his graduated career.

Instead of having a big notebook for portfolio records, we decided to make them electronic. So we started to search about solutions. We need a system like blog. Each student will be author, add post, pages and built their blogs every year. On the other hand, the teacher can visit their students’ blog. Of course it is better if we can gourp the blogs so that the teachers can easily see the students for instance in 6A.
We have over 2000 students and one WMPU installed. I am not sure that WMPU is the correct platform for this. I hope I can introduce e-portfolio clearly. Do you have any idea about WMPU is the proper environment for e-portfolios?

I think that if you can do it on Single installs of WP, which you can, then WP Multisite (it’s not WPMU anymore) would be just dandy for this. 2000 students can be handled easily, provided you can code up whatever you need for your e-portfolio.

If you can envision how you want that to work on a nromal install of WP, you’re good to go.

But each students must have different libraries, pages.. So each student must have their own blog. In each blog, different teachers shold be defined.. there will be some forms to fill.. As an admin, will I add these forms into each students’ blog one by one as a page? I don’t know, I am a little bit confused about our structure and the easiest solutions..

    That is easy for Multisite.

You can do that with a plugin (Blog Categories I think is what it’s called, they can see the ones in 6A etc).

But the forms… well if they’re generic, you have ’em on the main site. If not, you have to put them up per-site.

And yes, you would have to manage the users.
