• Instruction manual really out of date–does not match the screens in the xcloner control panel. Lots of new options in Xcloner.

Most importantly, i was unable to restore my site in spite of making an xcloner backup file 2 days ago. I tried to follow instruction manual found here https://www.xcloner.com/support/download/?did=5 (at the time of this writing, version 1.0 of the manual is all that is available). No screenshots in the manual at all. Manual says “You’ll be taken to the XCloner.php file on the website you specified in the clone settings
and you will see the following screen.”

Nope, did not happen. It just went back to the xcloner control panel on the site I was trying to restore (where I started).

So, now I will have to manually restore my site by copying files using FTP on my host. Definitely not what I signed up for or was expecting with xcloner.

  • This restore wiki https://www.xcloner.com/wiki/index.php/Restore_Backup#Restore_Backup_.E2.80.93_Manually should help in providing alternative restore options, for WordPress the XCloner restore script is located in the wp-content/plugins/xcloner-backup-and-restore/restore/ folder

To summarize, simply copy the restore script indicated above along with the backup archive to your site root, and then start the XCloner.php script in your browser,

    Hope it helps…

Just to add to this conversation, I received the following error:

Warning: require(TAR.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\xampp\htdocs\dell\XCloner.php on line 40

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘TAR.php’ (include_path=’.;\xampp\php\PEAR’) in C:\xampp\htdocs\mywpfolder\XCloner.php on line 40

The .tar file is in the folder though so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

When copying the restore XCloner.php script, you also need to copy the TAR.php to the new restore location
