This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number

  • I have a blog on wordpress.com and I want to import it to www.remarpro.com. I exported a file from tools – export, it worked fine.
    While importing to www.remarpro.com I got the following errors:

    1. Import was not opening, I installed WordPress importer and it worked.
    2. Could create directory wp-content/uploads, I set the permissions to 777 from 775. It worked.
    3. Now I have this error:
    This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number

    Now what is this? An XML exported from wordpress.com is not a WXR file? Please help.

  • I was having the same problem and I tried everything everyone in these forums suggested. I asked for help from my host and they turned off safe_mode for my site and it worked!

    They want their hosting to be secure so they won’t turn off safe mode. I’ll change my web host.
