• Hello to everybody in wordpress forum, as I am a newby in wordpress this is my first post in the forum.
I have some problems with a game site I just made and I asked my hosting company to restore a complete backup of my site, but I would like to find out when I want to make this complete restoration on my own, whether I have firtsly to delete all my files from httpdoc (plesk panel) then upload all my backuped files and at last upload my backuped database?

  • I think it depends on your hosting service. I use go daddy and they back up my server, and if I ever want to restore it to a certain point I go into my control panel and reset my database. I’m not 100% sure how else you could do it. I’m sure there’s a way. If I remember correctly you can save out a file from a database, and then just reupload that to a new one. I always felt that that was to much work so I never bothered to figure it out lol. Sorry if this doesn’t help much.

here’s some info on how to restore your database.

With regards to the files, you can delete everything as you mentioned, but do remember to make a back up of your wp-content folder. That’s the important one.

I use the BackWPup plugin to backup my important files once a week. It’s very useful.

Hello, my host company eventually did the restore of the backup but I would like to ask, if I just only recover the database backup will everything be recovered (I mean files posts plugins etc)? Or I will have to recover all my files from httpdoc (plesk panel). This is what I try to understand as regards the backup of a wordpress site.
Thank you all for your replies
