Alternative Home Page

  • Hi, I am new to wordpress and having trouble with my home page. I want to use my own home page that uses a graphic to direct visitors to its pages set-up in wordpress.

    I initially set-up wordpress in the root and possibly realise this was a mistake.

    Can somebody give me some advice or point me in the right direction to resolve this please. I am desperate and have to meet an urgent deadline.

    Also, I presume it will be possible to link my graphic on the home page to the wordpress pages that I have set-up?

  • In your case it sounds like you have a web page that you want visitors to go to that links to your wordpress site. If I were you I would install wordpress in a directory like https://mydomain.com/wordpress and then on the homepage you are talking about make the graphic link to https://mydomain.com/wordpress.

    Just an opinion, this is kind of a weird way to make a site – lol. I would recommend making the home page you are talking about a custom template in which you can set to be the homepage of the wordpress application. This way its all part of the same application. It will be better in the long run.
