Custom Follow Widget

Hi, can anybody direct me to a tutorial for creating a custom follow widget. I am creating the buttons in photoshop (regular text buttons with a custom font) but I am unsure of where to go from there. I know it will have to be a piece of incoded text on the sidebar but I am not fluent in CSS or html (at all)! Any help you can provide would be great.
