[Plugin: Total Social Counter] fopen problem

Hello,
your plugin works great on my local wordpress installation, but my hoster gives me an error due to the disallowed fopen function. Is there any way I could resolve this with curl or something else? I’m not really experienced when it comes to PHP coding.
