Is your server in a different time zone?

Yes….

its showing 8:35 and so I put in +5 to make it my time, and it changes to the next day!

Maybe it needs to be negative?

What is your setting for “Times in the weblog should differ by” under the Date & Time section in Options > General? It should be set to +/- a certain amount of hours from the reported UTC time.

Might be worth clarifying – the offset is from UTC time, *not* from the server’s timezone.

And that UTC = GMT = UK time. Well, UK time less one hour at present, as we’re on summer time. East coast US = -5 for the offset.

Make that -4. We’re also on “summer” time around here. :)
