• Okay,

So I have the following files before I tried playing around with the URL and host changes.

    – I have EVERYTHING from my FTP folder (like everything in public_html)
    – and I have my localhost.sql.

Now what can I do to get my website back the way it was.

The files are still in File Manager, but when I go to my cpanel, there are no users or no databases left because of exporting them (to make backup). Should I just create a new database back with the same name, same password, and same users and then just import? Would that simply get everything back?

I can’t afford to take any more risks after all this. Please guide me and what shall I do. If I need to do a fresh install of WP, I am willing to do that as well as long as I have all my backup.

    Thanks!

  • If your files are still in place, that is a good start.

Yes, you will need to make a new mysql database.

If you use the exact same name, user, pw, etc for the dataabase, everything should work.

If not, then you simply have to modify the wp-config.php file in WP to match the database credentials.

Have you gone into phpmyadmin to see if your database is there or not? Exporting a DB would not kill it. UNless something else happened….

Well I am not sure what happened either. I just exported it and Boom, it was gone and I was getting this database error. Then I recreated it and imported things and now I am getting pure white screen. Things are going bad. I don’t understand what to do. Should I just create a brand new forum and do a f resh installation, then import everything? I don’t know, can you check it for me via teamviewer or something?

and I have my .sql file and everything from the filemanager. I just really hope those things are enough. If not , I will end up wasting over 5 months of hard work. I just wana get everything back to normal before I try to change my URL and hosting again.

OH wait, you are also trying to change domains (URL) and hosts? And that is how this happened?

Is your domain resolving to the correct folder appropriately?

I dunno if anything here can help you, I just recently switched hosts and tried to capture everything.

As long as you have those files, and the database backup, you have evrything…. so don’t worry too much. It can be fixed, just need to pinpoint the issues.

Inside of your database, have the URLs been changed to reflect your new URL?

    no no, that’s not it.
Okay, let say my current site URL is url1.com, and my current hosting is host1. I was trying to change my URL to url2.com and move my hosting to host2. That is the reason I was trying to export my current SQL to move it to the new one. Anyway, things happened and both of them didn’t work out. The URL2 and Host2 didn’t work at all but something caused my URL1 and Host1 to stop working as well.

Okay now, All I am trying to do is get back to my URL1 with my Host1. I don’t want to change my host/URL any more until my current website starts working like before. When it starts working back, then I will follow instructions carefully and try to move it to the new host and URL.As in for now, I want help in making my current website work back again. So to do that, if I do a fresh install, would it help? or what do you prefer me to do.

    Thanks!

Ask your host1 if they have a recent backup of your site.
Make sure your database is configured properly.
Ask your hosts to install their recent back up.

I already have the recent backup.
How do I makesure bout that?
My host doesn’t do that, but they let me do it manually with my own recent backup.
