• WP version 3.2.1 Theme: attention

    Hello,

Please help me, all my headings are missing from the front page of
    my site

The strange thing is that on my computer, whether logged in on WP or not, I see everything, yet no one else can see them. I am new with html and css, I have been trying to correct all the mis-nested html and errors, but if someone can please help! I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you

    Hello, Cristopher,

Thank you for your time. That is a comfort that you can see them! My boss’ computer is not showing any of the headings on the home page. Also another collegue we have located in another country also does not see them.

Where can I paste the screenshot for you to view?

    Thank you!

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Well, thank you for your help. I did try your first and third suggestions and I do not think it was that. It may be a problem with the theme but….

I do believe I have a much bigger problem now though. I was promted to update my WP from 3.2.1 to the most recent, before I could switch back to the twenty eleven theme. Whilst upgrading (I did back up my files and database) the upgrade failed and I can no longer log into my WP admin or website.

The reason it failed it said was because of not being able to update a file called : ms-edit? in wp-admin.

How do I try to upgrade again?

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – re-running the upgrade via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Thank you for all your help esmi,

I have my website back! It seems to still be a mystery about the missing headings though.

My computer (and apparently others) can see everything. My boss’ computer does not show any headings in the center article on the home page, the sidebar and widgets and none of the headers in the footer. Yet it does show the headers of pages.

When I (finally) switched back to the twenty eleven theme it did not show any content (the article and such) that I had on my attention theme. It just said ‘HOME’

Also, someone else we know has the same theme: attention, when viewing his site on my boss’ computer it does the same thing (does not show any of the headings), is this some strange phenomenon?

    Again though
    Thank you!

Looks like there’s an issue with your boss’ browser – not WordPress.

Right on, you’ve got it I think. Now, I have no idea how to fix this though, but it must have something to do with my site needing to be validated with all browsers correct?

It’s always a good idea to validate your site’s HTML & CSS as this does improve the chance that you will get a reasonable display across the greatest range of browsers. But if it’s just one copy of IE on 1 computer that has the problem, then it’s far more likely to be an issue with that computer and not your site. Quite how you broach this to your boss, I couldn’t say.

Yes, I agree. Although I had another collegue say he also has the same view. I am on Windows IE 8 and They have IE 9. So this most likely is the problem. Well esmi, you have proven to be most helpful to me today!

I will try to resolve these issues through validation.

    Cheers ??

Glad I was able to help ??
