• Situation:
One blogsite already hosted host, one copy of WordPress already installed. Adminstered by one person using one computer.
    Problem:
I want to put up two more completely separate blogsites which already have their own registered domain names. My current host is Powweb which has given me 5gs of webspace plus 5 mysql databases.
Do I pay for two more hosting packages and re-install WordPress on each? Is three copies of WordPress on one computer OK or will there be conflicts. I’m in a dilemma here.
I’m a newby. Forgive me if a simple elegant solution is also blindingly obvious. Thanks in advance anyway.

I have seven WordPress blogs installed on my server. Four of them use the same database, using different table prefixes to keep them seperate. The remaining blogs each have their own database.

You only need to make sure that your server is correctly configured to answer requests for the appropriate domain names.

    Thanks Skippy.
As I said I’m a newby so excuse me; Can you be a little more specific about what you mean by different table pre-fixes? For instance the 5 mysql dtatabases I mention would all demand a different password to differentiate and activate them – is that what you mean? If so I think I might have a problem runing them off different domains. I believe the databases at present belong to the particular domain name I registered with my hoster. perhaps you have your own server to get round that.
Secondly how do you manage all 7 sites from one wordpres dashboard download. In other words how do I acess and manage multiple sites from the same dashboard?

    Thanks

See Installing_Multiple_Blogs; it gives basic instructions for setting up with a single or multiple databases.

I don’t know about PowWeb, but BlueHost (which WordPress recommends) offers a service called Fantastico that installs and sets up many scripts for you. Among them is WordPress. Fantastico makes the installation of multiple WP blogs very simple. That may be a good choice for you.

Please do not add referer links to any url unless you make that fact clear.
URL to Blue host in the above post modified.

    @xpdite
Open wp-config.php and everything will be crystal clear ??

    xpedite,
I think there is some misunderstanding in your OP. Hosted WP installations have nothing to do with the number of “copies” of WP on your or anybody else’s computer.
You mentioned a WP installation that is “managed by one person using one computer”. That’s a nonsense. You can access your hosted WP from any computer in the world (provided they are connected to the Internet).
I have all the copies of WP since 1.2 Mingus on my computer, but managing my hosted/online blogs have nothing to do with this fact.
