• I am having trouble with WP adding random numbers at the end of image file urls. The correct file url should be https://websiteaddress.com/wp-content/uploads/image-title.jpg but after uploading the image and when I go to grab the file urls to insert into post it shows https://websiteaddress/wp-content/uploads/image-title-e1325984078874.jpg

It adds that exxxxxxxxxx number at the end of image file urls. How do I go about getting rid of that random number at the end? I had to reupload some of the images and after reuploading this issue came up.

Anyone know how to resolve this problem?

  • Do you have any cache plugins or image related plugins installed – are you using a CDN? The exxxxxx suffix is also sometimes generated by a server cluster – a timestamp. It is used to keep files unique across multiple servers. Remove the image(s) from server(s), rename the local copy, try again. It can also be used to serialize a protected file (digital rights).
