Very new at this… sorry if this is a silly question.

Just launched my live site and IE8 is not displaying the sidebar text correctly. Site is at https://www.afc4me.com

There should be a short paragraph of text between the button and the Read more link (it shows in FF).

I’ve updated my CSS, looked through my code, and searched for a while on why this could be happening. I did not copy/paste the text from Word, so that can’t be the issue and the text can’t be seen when you highlight the area (those seem to be two popular errors that I’ve found).

The text is not part of a widget – it is hardcoded into the sidebar.php file of my theme.

    Any ideas?

It is there in IE8 and 9.

Yes! I’m sharing the site with others inside my organization (who are using IE8 on PC) and it is not showing for any of them… after repeatedly refreshing and clearing caches.

Could it be a Mac to PC thing?

I am on a PC running window 7 and see it just fine in IE7, 8, and 9.

Try someone else who is not on the company network.

Had someone else test outside the company on IE8. They sent me a screenshot and it does not show the text.

Hmm… could your IE have a plugin or something these others don’t have that is allowing it to show?

Don’t know what to tell you. My IE is the standard downloaded from MS. I can also see the text on my smartphone and on my kindle.

Ok,maybe this. Some browsers are extremely sensitive to boundaries. The right side of “text-left” is touching the left side of “text-right” (where the vertical line is) so that could force the text on the right down and out of the container.

You can probably adjust that in the style sheet by changing padding.

I did some padding adjustments, but I couldn’t get that to work either.

I did solve the issue by formatting ALL of the text as a hyperlink (since the “Read more” text was showing, I thought this could help). It worked.

Obviously, not the best solution, but will mark this topic as resolved for now.
