I’m wondering how can I add images to the ones already available in TwentyEleven under “Appearance>Header>Default Images” section for random show??

If I upload my images through the “Uploaded Images” section, they will not be included in the default images, and I can only choose which section to work.!!

    So can you please help?

  • Hi abusalah,

You can choose to randomize your uploaded images as well. In

In Appearance > Header in the dashboard, under the “Upload Image” area, there is another area named “Uploaded Images” where:

“You can choose one of your previously uploaded headers, or show a random one.”

Just select “Random: Show a different image on each page.” and this will show a random custom image on each page of your site.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you ChristiNi but I know about this.

I wanted to add my images to the “Default Images” section, because I’m using my uploaded images for specific pages.

    Thanks again.

    Hello abusalah,

If you set a featured image for a Page or Post it will become the header image for that Page or Post. That’s probably the easiest way to do this, otherwise you would probably need to create custom template files for your Pages and Posts.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks again ChristiNi. But the images that I set for some pages are uploaded (didn’t come with the TwntyEleven theme).

    So what shall I do?

    Hi abusalah,

Simply go into each Post or Page and pick the appropriate image as the featured image for that Post or Page. You can pick a featured image from images you’ve previously uploaded to your Media Library.

    Hope this helps!

Sorry ChristiNi but this doesn’t solve my original problem which is “how can I add images to the ones already available in TwentyEleven under “Appearance>Header>Default Images” section for random show??”.

I have uploaded some images and used them as featured images for some pages, but I want now to expand the random image pool with more images.

    Got me?
    Regards.

I suggest you get a photo rotator plugin such as this one “Cimy Header Image Rotator” It’s really practical. Does anyone know precisely where I can place the code of my image rotator to replace the picture? FYI I’m a noob.

Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this.

    Hi abusalah,

I’m sorry for any confusion, but I’m not clear on what you want to do.

If you want to have random custom images, you can do that by uploading your images in the Appearance > Header area and choosing Random for your images.

If you want to have a specific custom image for each Page or Post, set a featured image for each Page or Post.

If instead, what you want is a mix of the default images and your custom images, try downloading the images you want from the default images (wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/images). You can use either an FTP program or your web hosts File Manager to download the files to your computer. From that point, you can either upload them along with your other custom images, or set them as default images on specific Pages or Posts.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you ChristiNi.
I guess this is the best solution so far.

Copy the “Default Images” section to the “Uploaded Images” section, then use random function, and then use some images as feature images for specific pages.

I thought there would be a better solution but the way the header section is managed by TwentyEleven theme is a bit rigid.

    Thank you very much.
