When I try to enter in custom structure option in permalinks and insert /%postname%/
When I click save changes it reverts back to Post Name.
I would like my pages to appear with the website, category and then product name.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • I’m not sure what you mean when you say:

When I click save changes it reverts back to Post Name.

I’ve never seen that before. If you want the category and the post name to appear then I think that what you want is to use

    /%category%/%postname%/

This is exactly the problem I’m getting.

When creating a custom permalink structure /%postname%/ the highlight reverts back to the Post Name setting when pressing save.

I assume as the highlight changes to another setting that the custom setting is not saved, is that correct?

HOWEVER if I change to /%postname% with no backslash the highlight for custom setting remains on custom settings, so I assume this indicates that this setting is now saved.

I know /%postname% is incorrect syntax but I’m confused as to why the correct syntax /%postname%/ with backslash doesn’t appear to be saved.

Using WP version 3.3.1, HeatMap Theme Pro 5.2 and have tried with Twenty Eleven 1.3 theme but no improvement.

    Help would be greatly appreciated!

I’m getting the same behavior… WP 3.3.1 – just got it from the WP site and installed.
I would really appreciate any help.

    Thanks

@dashaluna: It is impolite and contrary to forum policy to interrupt another poster’s ongoing thread with a question of your own. Please post your own topic.

@esmi, I thought I was confirming that I’m having the same problem as @christokid described above.. I was simply asking for any help to show that not just one person have got that problem, I wasn’t asking unrelated questions.. I hope that’s ok.

Are you using the same version of WordPress on the same physical server hosted by the same hosts with the same plugins, theme & configurations as the original poster? No? Then please post a new topic.

    Sorry..

When I try to enter in custom structure option in permalinks and insert /%postname%/
When I click save changes it reverts back to Post Name.

It is my belief that the newer version of WordPress finally incorporated the feature most commonly used into their versions 3.3.1 & 3.3.2.

If you look at what it reverts to.. it’s “Post name”, which is what you want.

    Hope that helps.

mwarnold – Regardless of your feelings to the matter, we ask that you NOT jump on some else’s topic unless you have 100% the exact same issue, with the exact same errors. (It really makes it harder to help the original poster, and if you have your own thread for your slightly different issue, then you get personal attention. Isn’t that nice? I think so too!)

When I try to enter in custom structure option in permalinks and insert /%postname%/
When I click save changes it reverts back to Post Name.

The value /%postname%/ is actually the same thing as ‘Post Name.’ WordPress is smart enough to know what you’re doing, and this is not an error ?? Change your permalink slug to /archives/%post_id% and it’ll switch to ‘Numeric.’

Everything’s fine. Nothing to see. These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.
