• Despite the fact that several of my blogs are running both of these plugins without issues, RSS Digest is conflicting with Zemanta on one of my WordPress sites.

When the automatic digest is scheduled to post, nothing posts on the blog though the log indicates that it has posted. If I try to manually post the digest I get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function WP_Filesystem() in /home/[my site]/wp-content/plugins/zemanta/zemanta.php on line 323

If I disable Zemanta, the digest posts just fine both manually and when scheduled. But I’d like to be able to still use Zemanta and the fact that these work together on my other blogs makes me inclined to seek a solution rather than give up the plugin.

    Thoughts?

  • Hey there!

This is interesting. We are checking it out.
Meanwhile, you can surely use Zemanta as a Browser Extension. It shouldn’t have any conflicts with www.remarpro.com there. Check https://www.zemanta.com/download

We’ll post updates about this bug!

    Best,
    Rok (Zemanta)

Oh right, as we have a new version of the plugin in development, we could send you a beta version if you want to test it out?
    Contact me at [email protected].
    Thanks!

I’d be happy to try it out. I will email shortly.

I’ll update this thread if we find a solution.

Just an update that I uninstalled Zemanta entirely and while RSS Digest would post manually… it still wouldn’t post when scheduled, though at least this time it knew it hadn’t posted. So, sadly, the issue seems to lie with RSS Digest and not Zemanta.

I’m hoping someone from RSS Digest will have a theory.

PS: I tried the browser version of Zemanta again, Rok, on your suggestion and I still prefer the plugin. The biggest issue is the inability to turn it off for pages I don’t want it on. When it loads for email and other blogs I don’t use it for, it just slows everything down instead of being useful. I would like that browser app so much better if it let you specify which sites to use it on or at least gave you the option to manually turn it on and off for certain domains.

Thanks for the report! So kind of you.

I understand your problem, this has lately been a pretty requested feature. If you don’t mind I’ll shoot you and an email with some additional questions. ??

    Best,
    Rok
