The media library has stopped displaying images

  • This page shows no image when one has been added. The media library has stopped displaying images I upload. The entry appears in the media library but no image is displayed.

    The image is not visible in posts or pages either.
    New images are not displayed. Only ones I added a few days ago and prior to that.

    I upgraded WP to the latest version 3.3. The media library still does not display images I upload.

    I’m unsure how consistent this is
    Occasionally the media library displays these latest images, just in the library, but not in the post or page to which they are added.

    Can anyone help? What is the problem? Any ideas?

    Note that the image of the flower is visible on this page. It was added some weeks ago. The image of the piggy bank is not visible. It was added today.
