Portfolio site for several artists

  • Hi! I want to build a wordpress portfolio site for several artists, where they will manage their own portfolios. Anyone know of a theme or plugin that is good for managing many portfolios by several users. Both free or premium is of interest. Actually any pointers or ideas at all is appreciated.

  • why not use multisite and give them their own space maybe with nextgen gallery plugin installed

    I was a little discouraged by the need for “basic understanding of WordPress development, PHP, HTML and CSS, as well as UNIX/Linux administration” as I know just a little HTML and even less CSS. I do, however, have the ability to google things and follow instructions ??

    Do you know of a site built this way, that I could take a look at?

    There will be around 200 members on the site and some will be active and upload content to show in portfolios. Others will just have their contact info on the site. I′m concerned that a subsite will look empty if it is not actively worked on. Or will the subsites inherit everything from the main site?

    After some reading up on multisite, I am not sure if this is the way to go for me, since the main thing I want the members of the site to have is a portfolio and a profile page.

    There should be one blog on the site where all users should be able to post. There won′t be any use for individual blogs and other pages, as I can see now. I also want all portfolios to be shown on the site somewhere as well.

    As I understand, I will not be able to have the main site′s blog, pages or widget content on the subsites in a multisite.

    Did I get this right? Is still multisite an option for me. Or maybe other plugins?
