[Plugin: WordPress-Amazon-Associate] Geo Localization not working

    I’ve been using the WordPress-Amazon Associate plugin for a while on my site, and generally it’s worked fine. However, lately I’ve noticed that Geo Localization has stopped working.

    I’m not sure when it happened. I removed then reinstalled the ip2nation database, and got the success message to say the DB was installed successfully. I have geo localization enabled on the settings page.

    I’ve looked at the site on a few different computers and connections, it always shows US Amazon product information. I cannot even get “Enable Locale Viewing for Administrators” to work – if I select a non-US country it still shows US info.

    Amazon ads can be seen in the sidebar on this page of my site, as an example.

    As an update to this, it looks like geo localization was working fine within articles (ie the loop), but not in my sidebar. I was using shortcodes directly to products for both areas of the site.

    In the end I gave up with the shortcodes in the sidebar and used one of the provided widgets instead. That seemed to fix the issue. It’s great that this plugin has so many in-built options.

    (I realise I’m talking to myself here, but if someone else is having the same issue they might stumble upon this and find some clues that help.)
