Function to delete media attachments

Hi all,

I’m trying to locate the function that takes care of the deletion of (media) attachments. Could someone point me in the right direction, because I can’t find it.

I’m writing a cleanup script and like to get rid of a lot of images, but this part is missing. A suggestion which library/script to include and which functional to call is really appreciated!
