hardcoding an image in a custom templatw

I have a custom template made for my home page. I am trying to call an image that is inside of my “images” folder in my theme folder.

When I try to just call the image with html such as:

<img src=”images/image.jpg” />

Inside my template it does not show up when I test. Is there something different you need to do to hard code something like this in?
